W-Etna
Alford’s W-Etna is a high explosive C-IED disruption tool developed specifically for the Humanitarian Mine Action (HMA) community.
Based on the Vulcan for its performance, the W-Etna uses a binary liquid explosive charge known as the Alford Liquid Explosive (ALX). The purpose of this binary liquid explosive is to overcome the unique challenges associated with holding, storing and transporting explosives during humanitarian demining operations (the two liquid components stored separately are not classified as explosive material).
The W-Etna incorporates a water projectile ideal for neutralising light and heavy IEDs with minimal risk of detonation to preserve evidence for postincident technical investigations.
